We built SnakeOilCheck because most supplement info online is garbage. It’s either marketing disguised as advice or personal opinions with no data behind them.
We wanted a site where every claim is backed by pooled data from randomized controlled trials. Not one cherry-picked study. Not an influencer’s testimonial. Actual meta-analysis with effect sizes, confidence intervals, and evidence grades you can verify yourself.
The supplement industry is worth billions of dollars. Companies spend a fortune on marketing and very little on proving their products work. We think you deserve better than that. You deserve to know what the research actually says before you spend your money.
Every rating on this site follows the same structured process. We search for published meta-analyses, extract the data, check for newer trials, pool the results, test for bias, and write it up in plain English. If the evidence is strong, we say so. If it’s weak, we say that too.
We don’t pretend to have all the answers. Supplement research is messy, underfunded, and full of small studies. But pooling that data together and being transparent about its limits is still way better than guessing. That’s what we’re here to do.

We earn a commission when you click an affiliate link on our site and make a purchase. This is how we pay for hosting, research tools, and the time it takes to analyze studies. We don’t charge you anything extra. The price is the same whether you use our link or go directly to the store.
We work hard to get the data right. But mistakes happen. When they do, we fix them fast and we fix them publicly.
How to report an error. If you find a mistake in our data, analysis, or conclusions, email us. Include a link to the page with the error and, if possible, a link to the source that shows the correct information. We take every report seriously.
How we handle corrections. We’ll investigate within 24 hours and publish a correction within 48 hours if the error is confirmed. Every correction includes what was wrong, what we changed, and when we changed it.
